Meet The Team

Phil Varni

President & CEO

Phil brings over 30 years of business experiences to the  firm.  With endeavors in many business ventures, including specialty structural concrete, specialty foods, major construction industry trade association, insurance and risk management as well general contracting.   Phil enjoys spending quality time with his family and  friends, hunting, fishing and many other outdoor activities!

Joe Sweeney

Safety & Marketing

Joe is responsible for oversight of the company's safety strategies and marketing materials.  With extensive experience in construction related activities as an Owner and an Employee for several companies Joe is a valued asset to the companies leadership team's development. Joe is a graduate of the University of Southern California after majoring in business administration, with an emphasis in Marketing and Management. Currently, Joe is the Responsible Managing Employee (RME) for Calafia Pacific, possessing several classifications and disciplines in the construction industry. Joe is married for over 40 years and has 3 grown children. Our driving principle at Calafia Pacific is to take care of our valued customers, doing whatever it takes, and do a responsible job for them -  safely. 

Adam Ashley

Estimator | Project Manager

 Adam is a graduate from the University of Alabama where he studied finance and real estate. He brings a first one in, last one out mentality to the Calafia Pacific team. Adam spends his free time golfing and watching the SF Giants, SF 49ers and of course the Tide roll on Saturday's in the fall! 

Jose Garcia

Estimator | Project Manager

With over a two decades of experience in all aspects of construction, Jose has the know how to keep the projects on schedule and budget while maintaining the high quality Calafia delivers each project.  He is customer focused and will ensure both the client and team have a memorable experience. Jose enjoys spending time with his family, fishing and travelling to different areas on his motorcycle.

Kathy Edmonson

Accounting | Office Manager

Kathy, handles/overseas all Accounting related matters for the company. Prior to joining the team, she spent 13 years in the accounting field within various industries.  Kathy graduated from University of Phoenix with a B.A. in Human Resource Management. In her spare time, Kathy enjoys spending time with family, watching hockey and football, and giving friends and family wardrobe makeovers. 

Jim Oneal

Concrete Project Sales

Jim has over 20 years experience in the concrete business. He has worked closely with the City of San Jose to repair and replace sidewalks, curbs & gutters. Jim also has experience in advertising, video and internet worlds. In his free time, Jim enjoys spending time with his family and friends, hunting, hiking and 4-wheeling. 

Jeff Jones

Superintendent 

With over 15 years of experience in the construction industry, Jeffrey has led teams of skilled workers on a variety of projects, ensuring efficiency, quality, and top-tier craftsmanship. Jeffrey ensures projects run smoothly, safely, and on schedule, always striving for excellence in every detail.  

Outside of work, Jeffrey enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, as well as fishing in pursuit of the next big catch. When Sunday rolls around, you’ll find him dedicated to football, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Peter Blach

Estimating & Project Coordinator  

After a brief stint in the field Peter has joined the operations team focused on supporting both the estimating pursuits and projects operation needs!  

When he's not producing submittals or chasing vendors for project quotes Peter enjoys coaching youth travel baseball, hunting ducks and hanging out with family.  

Maggie Luu

Administrative Assistant

 Maggie assists with a variety of administrative tasks. She has experience in administrative support and marketing, having worked in various industries. Her background includes handling office operations, creating marketing videos, and collaborating with teams to meet company goals. 

Outside of work, Maggie enjoys spending time with friends and family, creating new projects, and exploring new coffee shops and local eateries.
